HISTORY by Gil Hoffman:

The Carrollton Short Line Railway was chartered in July 1897, and the name changed to Alabama, Tennessee & Northern Railroad on September 29, 1906. The road was completed to York AL in December 1910.

The Alabama, Tennessee & Northern Railway was incorporated in Alabama in April 1913, as a consolidation of the Alabama, Tennessee & Northern Railroad, the Tombigbee Valley Railroad and the Mobile Terminal Railway, effective in May 1913. The Alabama, Tennessee & Northern Railway went into receivership on November 22, 1915, and was foreclosed in July 1918.

The Alabama, Tennessee & Northern Railroad Corporation was incorporated in Alabama on October 10, 1918, as successor to the A. T. & N. Ry., effective November 1, 1918.
