History by Gil Hoffman: In
September 1908 the Silverthorne interests of North Tonawanda, NY bought the
holdings of the Williamsburg Lumber Company, at Collins, Covington County,
for $525,000. To operate this property, the Okatoma Saw Mill Company was
incorporated at Collins on October 24, 1908, by Asa K. Silverthorne, of
Buffalo, NY; William E. Lee, of Ellisville, MS, and E. M. Griffin, of North
Tonawanda, NY, with authorized capital stock of $100,000. Soon afterwards
the mill was converted from a circular to a band rig. The sawmill cut 45,000
feet daily. The mill cut out and closed in September 1912.
