When the MJ&KC was built in 1905, the village of Stamper moved 2
miles to the railroad and formed the town of Stratton. At one time the W. L. Milling sawmill was located here. In 1943
the GM&O had a water tower and a 40-car siding here, but by 1955 the
siding had been shortened to 17 cars.
