History by Gil Hoffman: The Sanoody Valley Railroad was chartered in Mississippi on June 25, 1908, by Sam O. Bell, T. A. Hopper, A. A. Overstreet, John Guvin, J. C. Hopper, George H. Ethridge, Guy J. Reucher and T. D. Stennis, all of DeKalb, with authorized capital stock of $100,000. Terminal points were to be DeKalb and Sucarnochee, all in Kemper County, and the road was to be ready for operation by January 1, 1909. Sam O. Bell was president. On December 16, 1915, the property, rights and franchises of the company were sold at foreclosure to Simon Seelig and P. Sugarman, who deeded them to the DeKalb & Western Railroad on March 31, 1916. Note on spelling: Most maps show the creek followed by the railroad as "Snoody Creek", while most references to the railroad show it as the "Sanoody Valley."
