History by Gil Hoffman:

The CENTRAL COAL & COKE COMPANY had sawmills at Neame and Carson, La. The MISSOURI & LOUISIANA RAILROAD was incorporated in Missouri on July 24, 1902 and had a Missouri division at Bevier and a Louisiana division connected with the company's sawmills in Louisiana. The entire capital stock of $150,000 was held by trustees for the Central Coal & Coke Co. On September 28, 1914 the corporate title was changed to NEAME, CARSON & SOUTHERN RAILROAD by a resolution of the board of directors. The railroad was not incorporated. The name of the lumber company was also changed at that time to DELTA LAND & TIMBER COMPANY.

The Missouri & Louisiana (Louisiana Division) operated a line between Neame and Sherwood, Pujo, Longville, Morrison and Galloway, La. , a distance of 44.45 miles. It actually had two divisions, the Carson division and the Neame division, which were not connected. The Central Coal & Coke Co. constructed and owned all of the lines operated by the Missouri & Louisiana. The line connected at Neame and Carson, La., with the KCS , and at C. C. Jct. with the Lake Charles & Northern. In 1910 the Louisiana division owned 4 locomotives.

In 1925 the sawmill at Neame was completely destroyed by fire and was not rebuilt. The remaining mill at Carson shut down on November 30, 1926 as a result of timber exhaustion. In anticipation of the closing of its remaining mill and complete loss of rail traffic, the Delta Land & Timber Co. applied to the I. C. C. on August 10, 1926 for permission to abandon the entire line of the Neame, Carson & Southern. At that time it extended from Neame in a northwesterly direction to Camp Baker (a logging camp) , 22.13 miles, and from Carson Mill in an easterly direction to C. C. Junction, 3.19 miles. Permission to abandon the entire line was given by the I. C. C. on November 27, 1926.
