For several years, a group of like-minded people interested in Mississippi railroad history have been collecting, preserving, researching, and sharing anything related to this state's rich but quickly-disappearing railroad history. Included in this group is Gil Hoffman, David S. Price, Art Richardson, Jerry Lachaussee, and myself, Tony Howe. Many others have graciously contributed, as well. This website will be a means for us to share that material with others. Hopefully researchers will find the site useful and interesting. We hope to include a brief history of each railroad serving this state, and include photos and maps where they are available. We will also include logging railroads, as well. We will primarily cover railroads between the 1850's up to the 1960's. We might also cover a few lines in adjacent states, too. As a project of this magnitude can be overwhelming at first, we will have to start small and to add to the info we have here as time allows. We hope anybody with additional info and photos will contact us and contribute also.
