History by Gil Hoffman:

On March 16, 1911, Mayerhoff Brothers, composed of C. E. and G. E. Mayerhoff, of Meridian, MS, purchased the mill site of the old Pachuta Lumber Company, at Pachuta, Clarke County. That same day the brothers purchased a tract of timber in Clarke and Jasper counties from Judson S. Hardee for $13,500. A new mill was built at Pachuta with a cutting capacity of 30,000 feet per day which was placed in operation in mid 1911. Timber for this mill was west and south of Pachuta, extending into Jasper County. On December 18, 1911, George E. Mayerhoff sold his interest in the mill to C. E. Mayerhoff. The operation lasted until 1918.
