HISTORY:

The Grenada Railway, LLC was formed in 2009 to acquire the rail line from Southaven, MS to Canton, MS from Canadian National RR. It was owned by V&S Ry and A&K Railroad Materials. The section from Grenada to Canton was taken out of service in 2011. In 2015, the North Central Mississippi Regional Railroad Authority purchased the entire rail line from A&K Railroad Materials for $43 million. The state of Mississippi contributed a $30 million bond, while Iowa Pacific Holdings paid the remaining $13 million. Iowa Pacific then leased the line from the Authority, the lease payment being applied to pay back the state bond.

In August 2018, International Rail Partners (IRP) signed a lease-purchase agreement with the North Central Mississippi Regional Railroad Authority to operate the line under a new name Grenada Railroad, LLC. In October 2018, IRP announced that they had partnered with Equity Group Investments in a $200 million deal to form a subsidiary, RailUSA LLC, to acquire the Grenada Railroad. In June 2019, RailUSA also bought a secord shortline, the Florida Gulf & Atlantic Railroad from CSX across North Florida.
