The
Bernice Lumber Co. purchased the Kirkland Lumber Co. operation at Bernice by
1904. In May 1907, the company purchased the Fred. B. Dubach Lbr. Co. at
Dubach, La. In January 1914 the company cut out its yellow pine timber and
rebuilt its mill to cut hardwoods. The mill was then operated by the J. S.
Wolfert Lumber Co.
