History
by Tony Howe:
The business of the Allen Cooperage Company was barrel staves. L. N. Allen
was president of the company, W. J. Hazard was manager, and J. M. Muse was
mill superintendent.
In 1925 the mill shut down due to a shortage of timber. In late 1926 a new
tract was obtained and in late summer of 1927 the mill was reopened. In June
1929, on account of high water, the plant was shut down and apparently never
reopened.
