History by Gil Hoffman:

On March 28, 1913, for $95,000 the Valley Lumber Company, of Camden, Arkansas, bought 3,400 acres of timber land in the vicinity of Gloster, Amite County, from the Boutin Timber Company, of Bayfield, Wisc. On June 9, 1913 the company bought the sawmill plant, logging railroad and equipment of the W. L. Robinson Lumber Company, on the northern outskirts of Gloster. The price was $33,000 which included lease of the mill site. Officers of the company were: J. T. Sifford, vice president, and C. W. Niehuss, secretary.

On January 23, 1915, the Valley Lumber Company sold all its timber holdings and rights-of-way plus other real estate and lands in Mississippi to the Gloster Lumber Company for $100,000. Included in this deal was the property bought by the Valley Lumber Company on June 9, 1913, from the W. L. Robinson Lumber Company and the timber bought from the Boutin Timber Company on March 28, 1913.
