HISTORY by Tony Howe:
This location was originally called Turner, and was named for Judge
Edward Turner. His home later burned, and a new house was built by his
son-in-law, M. C. Johnston, and was later purchased by S. S. Lee. The town
was renamed Leesdale in his honor in 1918.
