History by Gil Hoffman: The Forest Hardwood Company was a partnership composed of T. H. Wilson and H. N. Lyda, both of Forest, MS. In the summer of 1918 the company bought hardwood timber land between Forest and Usrytown. A sawmill was operated in the town of Forest.
