History
by Gil Hoffman:
The
Brunswick mill of H. B. Blanks was built in the summer of 1908 and
was located on the Mississippi River. It had a cutting capacity of 40,000
feet per day and employed about 150 men. Timber holdings consisted of 6,000
acres of hardwoods. The Brunswick mill cut out in late 1912 or early 1913,
after which the company moved its main business office to the First National
Bank Building, in Vicksburg.
In addition
to the mill at Brunswick, in 1912 the company had sawmills at Cary and
Shiloh, MS. The sales office was at Cairo, IL.
