History
by Gil Hoffman:
The Anderson Lumber Company was owned entirely by Isaac Anderson, of
Ellisville. On August 23, 1899 Anderson bought 880 acres of timber land,
including a mill site, from Frederick Muller. This land was on the western
edge of Ellisville, near the present Interstate 59 interchange. The sawmill
plant which he built on this land included a planing mill and dry kiln. On
March 1, 1901, from the Lyon family of California, Anderson bought 3,960
acres of timber lying directly west of his mill.
On November 9, 1901 the assets were sold to the Summit Lumber Company, of
Arkansas, in return for cancellation of debts, and shortly thereafter
transferred to the Anchor Saw Mill Company,
a Mississippi corporation.
