History
by Gil Hoffman:
On
November 7, 1893, J. R. Hinton bought 280 acres of timber from Ackenhausen
Brothers, about three to four miles west of the Ackenhausen sawmill. At that
time Hinton probably took over logging for Ackenhausen Brothers. By April
1895, he and C. Ackenhausen had formed a partnership known as "C.
Ackenhausen & Company." Available records indicate that they took
over operation of the mill of Ackenhausen Brothers. In April 1895 the
partners built a logging railroad to log the Ackenhausen mill.
