History by Gil Hoffman:

The Williams Yellow Pine Company was incorporated at South Poplarville, Pearl River County, on January 17, 1918 by R. J. Williams, C. L. Stamps, R. L. Henderson, W. C. Fowler and W. C. Schwen, all of Poplarville, with authorized capital stock of $300,000. R. J. Williams was president and general manager.

The company built a double band mill at Wilco, three miles south of Poplarville, with a cutting capacity of 100,000 feet per day. This mill cut only longleaf yellow pine, specializing in long timbers and dimension stock. Machinery throughout the mill was made by the Filer & Stowell Company. Initially the logging railroad was about 5 miles in length.

The mill was destroyed by fire twice and rebuilt both times before cutting out in 1931.
