History by Gil Hoffman: On April 1, 1905, the Walworth & Neville Manufacturing Company, chartered at Bay City, Michigan, but with office at Chicago, Illinois, purchased from Hawkins & Company, of Hattiesburg, its entire sawmill plant at Pinebur, Marion County, and 6,000 acres of timber land. The price was $85,000. The property had been operated under the name "Pinebur Lumber Company." J. C. Neville was president of the company. The Pinebur Lumber Company, which originally built the mill at Pinebur about August 1903, was composed of W. T. Haney, president; J. M. Bilbo, vice president, and T. D. Parsons, secretary and treasurer. The sawmill was logged by oxen. In September 1903 the sawmill and timber holdings were mortgaged to Hawkins & Company, which through default on the mortgage became owner of the Pinebur mill. On July 1, 1909, the plant and timber holdings were sold to the Cardal Lumber Company, of Chicago, for $86,000.
