HISTORY by Tony Howe: 

Foster was a small community on the Y&MV and named for a local landowner. Thomas Foster bought land near here in 1810, and the land was still owned by Bridges Foster many years later. The railroad had a siding, pagoda, and freight platform here in 1918.
