HISTORY by Tony Howe:

Erata (usually spelled "Errata") pre-dated the railroad by many years. The railroad spelled the location "Erata". The post office was established here in 1856. Good Hope Presbyterian Church was organized here in 1839, was supposedly the only Presbyterian church in Jones County for 50 years. Several smaller sawmills operated at Erata over the years after the NO&NE was built through here.
