History by Gil Hoffman:

On August 16, 1923 the Reynolds-West Lumber Company, of Texas, purchased the sawmill, logging railroad and timber holdings of the J. M. Griffin Lumber Company, at Burnside, Neshoba County, for approximately $4,000,000. The purchase included a band mill with a cutting capacity of 125,000 feet per day, planing mill, 13 miles of standard gauge railroad and equipment, and 300,000,000 feet of virgin shortleaf and longleaf pine timber. Officers of the company were: J. W. Reynolds, of Houston, Texas, president and J. M. West, also of Houston, Texas, vice president.

M. P. Barton was general manager.

The company went into receivership and its assets were sold to the Marietta Lumber Company in 1928, but not formally deeded to them until March 1, 1935 by the trustee, the Louisiana Savings Bank & Trust Company. The price was $241,000.
