HISTORY by Gil Hoffman:
The New Orleans, Fort
Jackson & Grand Isle Railroad was incorporated on December 15, 1888,
and the road completed, as above, in 1891.
The New
Orleans, Southern & Grand Isle Railway was chartered on February 1,
1911, as successor to the New Orleans, Fort Jackson & Grand Isle
Railroad. On April 11, 1911, the property of the New Orleans Southern
Railway was purchased by the NOS&GI.
The New Orleans &
Lower Coast Railroad was incorporated on December 1, 1916, as successor
to the New Orleans, Southern & Grand Isle Railway, whose property was
sold under foreclosure on September 27, 1916.
