History by Gil Hoffman:

In March 1916 J. T. McKinnon purchased the timber holdings in Jasper County of the defunct Brookpark Lumber Company, of Enterprise, MS. The timber was largely longleaf yellow pine. McKinnon then built a circular sawmill, planing mill and dry kilns on the west side of the New Orleans & Northeastern Railroad at Beatrice Spur, about two miles north of Pachuta. A standard gauge logging railroad was built northwestward from the mill into the Brookpark timber. The mill and railroad were in operation by September 1916. The McKinnon mill continued in business as late as November 1921.
