History by Gil Hoffman:

The Gayoso Lumber Company, of Memphis, TN, began construction of a 50,000 feet daily capacity hardwood band mill at Grenada, MS, in the spring of 1922 with operations beginning on August 21, 1922. Previously the company had a logging operation at Blaine, MS. In conjunction with the Grenada mill, 13 miles of logging railroad were built into the timber in the western part of Grenada County.

In February 1932 the company went into receivership and was reorganized in 1933 as the W. A. Ransom Lumber Company.

Note              5 Heislers were in use at Grenada in 1922 according to Heisler testimonial advertisement.
