History by Gil Hoffman:

The Fair-Chritton Lumber Company was incorporated in Coahoma County in early 1904 by George A. Fair and George C. Chritton with capital stock of $45,000. A single band mill with a daily cutting capacity of 50,000 feet was built at Chritton, on the Riverside Division of the Illinois Central Railroad. This mill had 3½ miles of railroad connecting it with the Mississippi River, where the manufactured lumber was loaded aboard barges.
