History by Gil Hoffman:

W. L. Crenshaw & Company was organized at Memphis, TN, in October 1919, as a partnership of W. L. Crenshaw and his son, C. L. Crenshaw. From Mowbray & Robinson, of Cincinnati, Ohio, the company purchased three sections of timber land in Issaquena County, MS, near Blanton, plus a sawmill located on the tract and a logging railroad on Oct. 27, 1919. C. L. Crenshaw became general manager of the operation. The company was incorporated in October 1920 with $50,000 in capital stock by Claude L. Crenshaw, Hester M. Crenshaw, Ida C. Turner, Alma C. McAlexander and F. C. Demuth with headquarters at Memphis, TN.

On October 27, 1923, the Memphis Band Mill Company purchased the sawmill property of W. L. Crenshaw & Company, at Blanton in Sharkey County, from the heirs of W. L. Crenshaw. The purchase included a circular saw mill, timber rights for six years, logging railroad and equipment.
