HISTORY by Gil Hoffman:

The Carrollton Short Line Railroad was chartered in July 1897, and the road opened from Carrollton to Reform, AL, 10 miles, in October 1900. An extension from Carrollton to Aliceville, AL, 11 miles, was opened in February 1903. On September 29, 1906, the name was changed to the Alabama, Tennessee & Northern Railway. John T.
