The Barr-Holaday Lumber Company, of Greenfield, Ohio, established a hardwood mill at Isola, MS, in August 1904.  The company was composed of W.I. Barr, of Greenfield, Ohio, B.A. Holaday, of Isola, Miss., and D.O. Miller, of Greenfield, Ohio. The manager of this mill was B. A. Holaday. In the summer of 1910 operations were moved to Louise, MS. The logging railroad went by the name "Quinine Central " but it was never incorporated.

The Barr-Holaday Lumber Company moved their mill from Isola to Louise in 1911 and built a logging railroad eastward. A separate logging railroad was later built westward from Colby into Sharkey County. This spur existed from 1919 to 1924.

The Barr-Holaday Lumber Company built a new band mill at Holly Bluff in Sept. 1917 and built about 5 miles of logging railroad here. It was apparently removed by December 1920.
